A Key Volunteer is someone who wants to go beyond a one-time experience and become a steady, trusted part of the BeHeard community. This role is perfect for those who love serving and are willing to commit to just one shift a month—about two hours that make a lasting difference.
By showing up consistently, Key Volunteers help create deeper relationships, strengthen the sense of community, and increase the overall impact of BeHeard's outreach.
In this role, you won't just serve—you'll grow. You'll be trained across different service zones, gaining the confidence and knowledge to support both new volunteers and staff. As you become familiar with each area, you'll play a vital role in helping things run smoothly, especially during busy moments when staff rely on experienced, dependable support.
Most importantly, Key Volunteers help ensure that every guest has the best possible experience. Your consistency, care, and willingness to step in where needed make you an essential part of the mission.

What to Expect
The Key Volunteer Commitment
Once a month
Commit to one volunteer shift per month — approximately 2 hours.
Show up consistently
The most important thing is simply showing up with the same enthusiasm every time.
Build relationships
Get to know guests by name. Be present. Be consistent. Be kind.
Work alongside staff
Our team will support and guide you at every shift — you're never alone.
14+ years old
All volunteers must be at least 14 years old to participate.
No experience needed
Just bring your heart. We'll train and support you for everything else.

Volunteer of the Month
Each month, one Key Volunteer is recognized and receives a small gift as a token of our appreciation.
Blue Vest
Key Volunteers earn a blue vest — a symbol that you've completed additional training and are a trusted resource for guests and the team.
